What we do:
At Tiger Tea Room, we host mahjong open plays & events with the intention of building a community. While American mahjong is taking Houston by storm, we believe it is important to also recognize other styles of mahjong and honor its history. Of course, this means we play the original Hong Kong style, but we also want to expand to more traditional styles in the future!
Our open plays allow people of all different backgrounds to connect through mahjong, refreshments, and music in a relaxed environment. Although we are a mahjong social club, we call ourselves a tea room because we provide a relaxed environment where you can slow down, sip tea, and meet new people while you play this game with such a rich history. Please, join us, bring a friend, and partake in something more than just tiles!
Yup! While we hope to become a permanent location someday with our own menu, we collaborate with small businesses, restaurants, cafés, and shops! (If you're a business owner, send us over an email 😉)
